Sometimes we can't even say exactly what's wrong, but we can feel it in our guts - something has twisted the fruits of our labor, manipulated the rules of the game, stolen the meaning of our very existence. The first goal of the New Eridu project is to reveal the hidden hands that have manipulated us, the methods of those manipulations, the reasons behind those manipulations, and answer questions like:
- If all of us love the Earth and Nature, why are we destroying the ecosystem and why are we creating monsters in test tubes?
- If we are a peace-loving species, why is there violent crime and war?
- If we are a compassionate species, why is there poverty and disease?
- If all of us love freedom, why are there prisons and slaves?
- If all of us want to go in a better direction, why are we letting our leaders lead us the wrong way?

...because once we know these things, we can begin to free ourselves from the Deceivers' illusions and start doing the things we really want to do.
The second goal of the New Eridu project is to plan ahead for the day when we are free: what is that "something better" we were meant to be? If we could make ourselves over in our own image, what would that image look like?
What if Failure is No Longer an Option?
We are entering a time that has a "make or break" aspect to it. In causality, this is known as a bifurcation or tipping point. What we do now will bias the outcome. The character and timing of this bifurcation looms large: the Mayans interpreted it as the "end of time," the Christians interpreted it as "the Apocalypse." Even if you don't believe in these things, surely you can see that it would take very little to start a war or release a disease or create a technology that either destroys us all or quickly returns us to very primitive living conditions. Some scholars believe that we have been though exactly this kind of cycle several times previously in our pre-history. What if something is different about this time, and the stakes are higher?

Why New Eridu?
Historically, Eridu was a city built in what is now southern Iraq. It was built by a civilization known as the Anunnaki, who seem to have possessed advanced technologies, and whose influence on civilization was far-reaching. Eridu was the city of the Anunnaki known as Enki (his title, "Commander of Earth") or Ea (his personal name, "Yes-No"), whose interest in and love of humankind is well-documented in Sumerian literature. Eridu was a good city for humans to live in, and had it withstood Anunnaki politics, humankind might already have taken its place among the civilized races. That potential still exists within us, the potential that Enki left buried deep in our DNA. Where better to express the resurrection and actualization of this potential than in New Eridu?
